glock 19 conceal carry

Glock 19 Conceal Carry - I estimate that I have accumulated about 5,000 hours of experience carrying the Glock 19, almost all of it in stock position. That's an average of 8 hours a day, 4 days a week, for 3 years.

I am not ex (nor current) military. I have never been a police officer and have no real interest in working in private security. I'm just a regular guy who carries a gun most of the time, so here's the gear I use and what I've learned along the way.

I've committed a tactical sin here...I use a regular belt. When I say regular belts, I mean regular belts that are very stiff. It's tougher than most so-called "armor belts" I've tried. I can't remember where I bought it, but I know it was made in China (it says so, on the back).

It beats many other leather gun belts I own. I generally find that the adjustment holes are the first thing to go on the belt, followed by the attachment points. 3 years later, everything is still going strong.

Also, I find that carrying the gun and spare ammo in the accessory position is safer and more comfortable with the safety strap at 10 or 11 o'clock than in the center of the body. This provides a smooth, uninterrupted surface for the weapons to run on.

Stats show that you should never exceed 16 rounds loaded in your Glock 19. I put too much faith in stats and am under no illusions that I can solve any major problems with a. While the G19 carries four spare magazines. By the way, I carry a spare magnet for statistical reasons.

Pistol jam Even a Glock pistol. It's a fact of life that if you fire enough shots, some sort of gun malfunction will occur. The vast majority of semi-automatic stops are popular or magazine-related. I'll narrow down the first topic by doing a good round of self defense. Second, the backup is taken into account with the magazine.

So I don't carry extra magnets because I think I need extra ammo. I carry it because magazines are a common point of failure and I often try to plan for disasters. As a side note, it's a 17 round magazine originally designed for the Glock 17. It's not a hassle to conceal and it gives me more ammonia. What doesn't he like?

He didn't always carry spare ammunition. I haven't found a good way to locate the spare magazine while hiding the gun in the accessory compartment. Then one day it hit me.

Looking down, I saw that the waist of the gun had created a small gap. It seemed like a good place to sew a magazine...but where to find a bag? I don't have to look far.

I made some magnet pouches out of heavy duty Kydex paper (0.125 inch) and got some unofficial IDPA style matches at my local gun club, and they have an ELS belt from Safariland. Taking one and snapping it 180 degrees to my waist was the perfect solution for my safety magnet needs. I just made a mirror image pouch so the ammo fits the weak hand reload.

After about a month of carrying spare ammo, I noticed that the space at the bottom of the bag occasionally became occupied. I solved the problem with a short piece of bicycle inner tube stretched around the magnet bag. On the plus side, the material proved to be non-slip and kept everything in place.

After careful consideration, I chose to go with the Crow Vanguard II. This is more than just a traditional holster. Instead of covering the entire gun, the trigger sits around it. A smooth swivel with a "point click" button keeps everything secure.

It's incredibly thin, thinner than a gun, and actually quite cheap. The hold is strong enough to keep the gun under control while running and jumping, but doesn't hinder quick draws.

It's a great, comfortable and safe way to carry your gun. But here's the bad thing about Crow Vanguard 2: you can't recover quickly. Well, I mean, you can, but then you're trying to jam a loaded gun into a tiny hole while it's pointing at a very important anatomical point.

Proper use of the Avant II requires removing the belt, installing it on the gun, and then screwing everything back into place. In theory, you should be able to cock the gun quickly and safely, one-handed. You may need to adapt to other tasks while the presence of threats is nearby.

I'm willing to sacrifice this feature to take advantage of the low profile and ease of use that the Avant II offers. Everything is a bargain in the end. It is a hand exercise, not a tactical range training exercise.

What I really like about the Raven Vanguard II is that I can load and unload the pistol while the trigger is still fully closed. Try it with a standard style case.

The Avant II's brass finish is black, but over time, the enamel finish wears off.

I firmly believe that blank shooting should be a part of any serious shooter's routine. There are many examples of how dry shooting can ignore gun handling skills as a training tool.

But, if you're going to dry fire a pistol every day, it's also going to be your go-to weapon, and you'll find yourself loading and unloading the pistol all the time. Mistakes happen. Increase the number of times you perform tasks, such as handling a loaded weapon, and the potential for error (the rate of inadvertent discharges) increases accordingly.

The fact that the Raven Vanguard II can perform all major administrative tasks with a fully shielded unit is incredibly valuable to me.

I can't think of a better general purpose pistol than the Glock 19, small enough to conceal but big enough for combat and competition, it has been my constant companion on many adventures. It has been completely and naturally integrated into my daily life for months and years, less visible to me than a keyboard or smartphone.

You learn a lot about what works and what doesn't when you have 30 ounces of steel strapped to your body for 3 years. And I found a way that worked for me.
