This is one of the best 9mm pistols out there. There are a lot in America and I know the Glock 19 is #1, but the lighter, thinner and more manageable full-size 9mm Glock 17 Gen 4 with a backstrap including a beavertail is better. Because NATO FMJ is good practice, not crap. High pressure for cheap practice ammunition. I usually use the NATO 239 grain .45 acp Glock 21 model, but this is my second favorite. I haven't tried the 5th gen yet and generally feel more comfortable with the 4th gen duty sized Glock. Better recoil alignment helps with FTE or irregular ejection problems.

I bought a G17, Gen4 to have a 9mm single action for range use. Previously I had shot a double action .40 caliber. The ease of shooting and the impact experience is excellent. It included back straps of different sizes, which is definitely a plus. We installed the Ultimate Pyramid flat face trigger assembly, extended slide release and optical sight. But out of the box it flies well. All in all, I have about $900 in this gun and I think it's worth the cost for my preference. Fits well in my hand, accurate, minimal recoil, crisp trigger break and quick reset, well balanced and stable. It's soft enough to come out of the holster, but not too big for concealment. The gun is great at range and used in tactical operations. Highly recommend this gun for any new or experienced shooter.

I have owned a Gen4 Glock 17 for several years and think it is one of the best 9mm pistols on the market today. Installed "Ultimate Pyramid Trigger Assembly" and fiber optic sights. This option increases the capacity of this pistol. Plus, the large back strap and beaver tail provide a great fit and comfort. Due to the angle and size of the design, it is comfortable and smooth to get a good grip on the draw. Needless to say, this is critical to the speed of getting sight alignment for a quick shot at the target. As a duty gun, it is light enough to carry a heavy pistol all day without fatigue. Accuracy is better during range or maneuvers. It is balanced, so shooting with your right or left hand is not a problem. Be it accuracy or rapid fire, I have yet to have any malfunctions. Bottom Line This pistol is highly recommended for home defense, duty or competitive shooting.
Once in 2015, me and my friend were in a situation where we didn't have any oil or cleaning kit and it wasn't coming soon. It's British and we were happy that the gun pulsed like a two-stroke engine that didn't have to be cleaned and the pistol wouldn't fire after a few rounds.
